My Flixn Clip
Another note on Flixn (before the vid), as a web app it has a lot of promise and certainly is very slick. They have a basic API already documented, and plugins for phpBB and WordPress are already built. I can see this project doing quite well. There is a massive user base out there (see YouTube) and the service is so easy to use that it simply cannot be deemed complicated, confusing, etc. It’s incredibly easy, fast, and fun!
I would love to see Flixn integrated with a site like Revver, Vimeo, or YouTube so users can create and upload their work on the same page. I think this would be a great opportunity for Flixn to license their product out to other companies and this would provide an additional cash flow! In addition their CEO Kevin Cook notes
Our aim is to augment existing communities – not become one ourselves.
Kevin Cook, CEO, Flixn
Offering this tech to existing sites would allow the “Flixn experience” with the community advantage, all from one site. Another interesting note, they use the Red5 flash server do not use Red5 – the system was still a bit too quirky when Flixn launched (it is still in beta, whereas Adobe’s offering has been heavily bugtested and used on thousands of sites).
Check out my Flixn clip after the jump, and also I apologize in advance for the strange scanlines.
