GeekBrief.TV is similar in content and format to the newer WebbAlert, but Cali Lewis gives the show a lighter, less formal style. You can’t help but smile along with her infectious laugh. The show’s slogan, even, is “shiny, happy tech news, with Cali Lewis.”

According to their website: “Geek Brief TV is a 3-5 minute video podcast, released 4-5 times a week. We cover news about technology, consumer electronics, and Web 2.0 projects.”
The show heavily features new and/or interesting products, and Cali’s casual demeanor gives an air of honesty that you don’t normally see when hosts discuss consumer electronics.
It’s a great show if you’re looking to catch up on cool new products and news, but, just like Play:Digital, what’s most important is that this show is entertaining.
I’m not saying that news has to be entertainment, but it can be entertaining. And there I see a very important distinction. One implies that you change news to make it more palatable, and the other means that you can talk about things that aren’t in themselves entertaining, but present them in an entertaining manner.
Which, of course, Cali does quite well. Honestly, I don’t care about the Nokia N810, but GeekBrief.TV’s review of it was fun to watch. The show has found an impressive professional-yet-casual style that makes potentially mundane news interesting. Which is great when you like to be informed, but don’t want to put in all the work that that takes, you know?
And make sure you watch the episodes past the credits, where there’s usually an outtake or two.
