Once I’m only working one job I’ll be able to write here more often. Getting home from a full-time job and then working for another 3-4 hours is, tough, you know?

Anyway, excuses are weak, so here are a few things you mind find interesting:

Pretty frightening. And now off the list of places I want to see. The examples might not be representative, but it gives me an eerie feeling, like their tourism bureau exists to trick people into coming to the country so that they can enforce their morality on foreigners without having to leave home.

“Dear Diary” — Mike (Gabe) of Penny Arcade finally seeks professional help for his neurosis. If you read the newsposts or listen to their podcast you won’t be surprised. Mike definitely has a problem, so it’s cool that he’s okay talking about it, and about getting help for it. It could certainly help members of his audience who’ve been uncomfortable talking about their own issues, or in denial about them. The man’s doing some good, here.

“regarding voice acting…” — Wil Wheaton explains why Joystiq’s article about voice acting is wrong and biased. And I agree with Wil one-hundred percent. Voice actor Billy West has already talked about the silliness of just getting celebrities to do voice-acting, assuming that if you have an identifiable voice, that’s enough. Keith David is a talented voice-actor, not just some B-list celebrity “down on his luck” as Joystiq asserts. But, then again, isn’t video game journalism just where down-on-their-luck writers go for an easy paycheck? Or perhaps that’s unfair.

Robert J. Sawyer comments on Planet of the Apes’ 40th anniversary, and a review from the year it was released. The 1968 review is shockingly racist to those of us born well after the era. She suggests that because the black man in the movie is intelligent, he must be based on Sidney Portier’s movie roles and not on reality, especially because he’s “no good at sports at all.” Awful. I don’t believe that she should be so easily forgiven for her beliefs, as Sawyer does, simply because her statements were “of the time.” Remember, there are still people like this out there, and repugnance for that kind of thinking should never be softened.
